Knowing as many of the non-dental causes and treating them accordingly may help resolve persistent pains and nagging sensitivity.

In the absence of cavities or exposed dentin, it seems plausible to me that improving the link of sleep-airway-mouth on the one hand, and defusing trigger points on the other, have the potential to reduce dental sensitivities and reverse toothaches.
The two cases presented below highlight the difference between conventional and WholeHealth treatment of dental angina. Both patients – 56-year old CB and 41-year old BK – had regular cleanings with their respective dentists and came with excellent oral hygiene.
Pain Persists After Root-Canal Treatment and Extractions
C.B. came to me complaining of pain that began after a crown had been placed for a cracked molar (tooth #30). The pain had persisted despite root-canal treatment by an excellent root-canal specialist. So tooth #30 was extracted. In the meantime, the same pain happened to the same molar (#19) on her other side. C.B. liked her dentist, so she let him repeat the same treatment for #19. Pain persisted again in #19.
Both teeth were eventually extracted, but still her pain persisted. Chair Side Investigation (CSI) on her history and in her mouth showed:
Tooth #30 cracked while chewing 2 years ago. A new crown resulted in lots of pain.
Root-canal treatment on #30 by specialist resulted in 50% reduction of pain.
Pain in tooth #19 began shortly after root-canal treatment on #30. Pain in #19 led to another root-canal treatment.
Pain in both teeth remains unchanged 2 months after they were both extracted.
Presenting symptoms included snoring, teeth grinding, clicking jaw joints, morning headaches and sore jaws, neck and shoulder pain, weight gain and abdominal obesity, daytime sleepiness and fatigue, senile memory/ADHD, acid reflux, depression, anxiety, grouchiness, and “lots of tension in chest”.
